Hi Marco,

sorry for my late reply - My Spamfilter trashed the Mails from the Forum.

My old Converter was named "GMUS-03" and no Brand printed on it.
The new one (without errors) is a Digitus.

Here is a Link to Ebay:

This one works fine on both, Win7 and Win8 without installing any drivers!

Good luck and best regards,
Kai

Dear Kai,

Thank you for your reply. In my case the ploblem rose when I migrated to complete different computer hardware and OS. After this I put everything back to the old situation, and I haven't had the time (and patience and courage  ) so far to troubleshoot further. I'm using two soladin 600 inverters connected with two what appear exactly the same USB/serial adapters, which I purchased about 1.5 yaers after each other from DealExtreme . I had a lot of trouble to get these running under Win7 and for the oldest one ( purchased september 2011) I had to use a realy old version Prolific driver which I found on the internet. So apparently they are not the same on the inside. I also discoverred that a lot of these cheap chinese adapters are using fake Profilic chips, although they claim to be original, and the chips have Prolific type numbers printed on it. However, they worked fine for years since I started using them under WinXP.
Anyway, could you please let me know which brand and type USB to serial adapter you are using now with your Sunprofit setup, and if possible give me a link to where i could order it? I hope to start testing again with Win7 soon (I have to clean my network from WinXP sometime), using your hints and all the effort Minke B and other users have put in since I posted my problem. I will keep everyone informed as soon I have new information.

Thanks a lot

Kai
